Martha Ramos, a Volunteer Engagement Fellow at Breathe Southern California, will be the featured speaker at the May 1, 2024 meeting of the Rotary Club of San Dimas.
Breathe SoCal is an organization with a clear mission – they are staunch advocates for clean air and tireless champions of healthy lungs. Their multifaceted approach combines research, education, advocacy, and technology to create a brighter, healthier future for all.
This dedicated group is committed to equipping families across Southern California with the knowledge and resources they need to enhance air quality and lung health in their neighborhoods. The need is pressing, with a staggering 1.2 million California children battling asthma. Shockingly, half of them have never received an asthma management plan. Within this group, 200,000 young lives are affected by the challenging air quality of Los Angeles, a city grappling with some of the nation's most significant air quality issues.
Breathe SoCal reaches into under-resourced communities, providing crucial lung health services that can transform everyday lives. By increasing access to proper healthcare, bolstering overall health, and keeping children in school, they're not only fighting for clean air but also securing a better future for generations to come. The battle for clean air might be tough, but it's a battle worth fighting.
In their pursuit of clean air and healthy lungs, Breathe SoCal collaborates closely with local experts, community members, and policymakers. Together, they advocate for the adoption of best practices aimed at reclaiming the air people breathe. Breathe SoCal firmly believes that everyone is in this together, working collectively to protect each and every lung.
